Where do you see yourself in 200 years?

It’s a question every one of us should ask—and answer.

We don’t like to think about death, but that isn’t what this question is really about. It’s about life after death. Because the truth is, we will all be somewhere, and wherever that is, it will be forever. There is life after we die from this body on earth. (John 3:16 and John 11: 25-26 to reference two of many).

For the spirit inside each of us there are only two destinations: heaven or hell. And the decision about that destination must be made on this side of death. It must be done now, because none of us knows when our life will end. There are far too many times that we hear or read of car accidents involving young people who thought that they had 50 or 60 years of life ahead of them, only to have life come to an abrupt and unexpected end. Or the stories we hear about the middle aged mom or dad that leaves home with plans for the evening or weekend and goes to work and dies unexpectantly from a heart attack.

Keep this fact in mind: in 2022, on average more than 600 people in the United States died unexpectedly every single day from accidents and heart-related events. They left home one morning fully expecting to return—but they didn’t. Instead, they found themselves somewhere else. Somewhere FOREVER. To me, the truth is that when we die, we either will live out our eternal life in one of two places: heaven or hell.

So, can you answer the question? If you can’t, I strongly urge you to study and look into it. Get help because you will need it. Make this decision a priority. Don’t prioritize anything else over this decision. Work at it until you can answer that question. I strongly encourage you not to put it off because none of us know if we will be part of the unexpected 600 statistic one day. None of the 600 that died today, expected it. But it is 100% guaranteed that each of us will die someday. We just don’t know when.

THE UNEXPLAINED

Just because something cannot be explained doesn't mean it isn't true.

Many parts and accounts of the Bible remain unexplained, even to biblical scholars. But that does not mean they are untrue.  I believe that this is one thing that keeps people from accepting Christ.  But I just wonder if it’s only an excuse.  There are many things in the bible that I cannot explain or don’t fully understand.  These are things that I accept by faith, and by faith alone.  I know and understand that this kind of faith is hard.  It can only occur when you develop and maintain a personal relationship with Christ.

Now there are many things in this world that I cannot explain, yet I know and believe they exist.  However, there is one thing in this world that no one can fully explain, yet it undeniably exists and can be seen by anyone: the staircase in the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

When the chapel was built in the 1870s, a major problem arose. Due to the chapel’s limited space, a traditional staircase to the choir loft could not be constructed. The sisters of the chapel prayed for nine days, and on the ninth day, a man appeared and said he could build them a staircase.

The staircase he built has two complete 360-degree turns, no central support, and no visible means holding its sides together. The entire weight of the staircase rests on the bottom step. Architects and engineers have studied it and cannot fully explain how it works. To this day, it has never been duplicated. Though no one can explain or replicate it, its existence is undeniable.  So the argument that something must be false just because it cannot be explained just doesn’t hold water.

For me, this is a reminder that just because something in the Bible cannot be explained does not mean it is untrue. I place my faith in God and trust that His holy Word is true, even when some things are beyond my understanding. The mysteries of the Bible call each of us to trust in God. Believing in what I cannot see or fully understand is one way I show God that I love Him and believe in Him.
